Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, head of government of Mexico City, shared with the municipalities of General Escobedo and Ciénega de Flores, in Nuevo León, government strategies and policies on technology and innovation, security, economic development and sustainable city.
The president stressed that the digitization and connectivity of these municipalities of New Leon is sought, for which a coordination framework agreement was signed.
The head of government explained that the Digital Agency for Public Innovation (ADIP) has helped place more free internet points in Mexico City (33,000, until the end of this year) and the number of security cameras has increased (they passed from 14,000 to 64,000).
“How is that achieved? Well, putting an end to corruption, putting an end to the privileges of the government and that allows us to have resources to be able to open rights, because we consider that access to the internet is a right, just as education is a right, health is a right”, Claudia Shienbaum warned.
The president considered that it is unfair that minors and adults do not have access to the internet because they do not have the resources to pay for a plan.
Andrés Mijes Llovera, municipal president of General Escobedo, detailed for his part that this agreement also seeks to develop security, financial, academic and technological projects.
“One of my goals is for General Escobedo to be as dynamic, attractive and functional as Mexico City; our goal for next year is to invest 200 million pesos in modernizing plazas and connectivity (…) Doctor, we want you to advise General Escobedo to make it the best connected city in the Monterrey metropolitan area, because we don’t want anyone to be left behind ”, indicated the mayor.
Miguel Ángel Quiroga Treviño, municipal president of Ciénega de Flores, explained that he hopes that the agreement will serve to implement improvements in the town.
“We can exchange many positive things for those municipalities, and also -as Mayor Escobedo commented-, maybe we can copy some things that you have done in your work as an official, that we can adopt in our municipalities,” he stressed.
The Mexico City government, headed by Claudia Sheinbaum, has signed agreements with six states and 20 municipalities.
