CDU politician Philipp Amthor: With 120 through the Tempo 70 zone

CDU young star Philipp Amthor costs dearly for his frenzy. The member of the Bundestag should surrender his driver’s license – which he objects to.

Pasewalk – It has been a little quiet lately about the CDU youngster Philipp Amthor. Amthor withdrew his application for the CDU state chairmanship of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in the summer of 2020 because of a lobby affair. In September, however, the 29-year-old managed to return to the Bundestag via the state list.

Now Philipp Amthor is supposed to surrender his driver’s license for a month for driving too fast and pay a fine of 450 euros. The Pasewalk District Court (Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania) sentenced him to this, as the 29-year-old confirmed to the German Press Agency on Tuesday evening. The broadcaster NDR 1 Radio MV had previously reported on it. However, the judgment is not yet final. Amthor is currently investigating a legal complaint against the decision.

Philipp Amthor does not want to accept a fine

According to reports from Norddeutscher Rundfunk, the trial before the district court had come about because Amthor refused to accept the fine imposed on him. The current head of the CDU state group Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in the Bundestag is said to have driven at around 120 kilometers per hour through a Tempo 70 zone last year.

With diligence and passion I am fighting for a Germany in which we live well and happily: For security, for a strong economy and modern infrastructure.

But he himself had little to do with the legal dispute. “I did not even get involved in the process, but instead had some legal questions checked by an experienced lawyer,” said Amthor, according to the dpa. “Of course I am not claiming any special rights to drive too fast, but it is also not indecent to have a court review a fine. Everyone is entitled to it. In any case, the following applies: Driving too fast is always unnecessary and should not be put into perspective. “

According to Amthor’s statement, the driving ban would only become legally binding if he did not lodge an admissible appeal against the judgment. He is currently examining this, according to the CDU politician. (skr / dpa)
