Cecret Lake Trail hike in Utah

0

The Cecret Lake trail is one of the most beautiful, fun, and rewarding easy hikes in the Salt Lake area. Offering so much to see and do for visitors of all ages, Cecret Lake is a great day trip for the family on their Utah vacation.

Cecret Lake, also spelled Secret Lake, is located near the town of Alta in the Albion Basin, famous for the wildflowers that bloom from mid-July to August. The trail is 1.2 miles each way and gains about 450 feet in elevation. It’s easy enough for almost everyone, but the kids find it challenging enough to feel a sense of accomplishment when they hit the lake.

To get to the trail, hike up the Little Cottonwood Canyon Main Road, past Alta Ski Resort to Albion Basin Campground. The road turns to gravel once you pass the ski resort, but it is suitable for 4WD cars, and there is a small parking lot at the trailhead.

What to expect

Walking to Lake Cecret is a memorable excursion, especially during wildflower season or early October when the leaves have changed color.

The trail crosses a footbridge over Little Cottonwood Creek and you will be taken to articles full of travel tips specially thought for each country.
