Certificate of incapacity for work – This changes with sick leave

0

Employees have been relieved of sick leave since the turn of the year. After a change in autumn, another innovation is now being added.

Frankfurt – Since October 2021, anyone who wants to take sick leave no longer has to send a certificate of incapacity to work to their health insurance company by post.

The AU, as the certificate of incapacity for work is also known, has since been transmitted digitally to the health insurance companies by the medical practices. This measure was expanded at the beginning of the year. However, the new regulation will only apply from mid-2022.

AU: Employees and employers are relieved of sick leave

From July 1, 2022 at the latest, the certificate of incapacity for work should be sent digitally not only to the health insurance companies, but also to the employers – by the respective health insurance company.

Employees on sick leave no longer have to bring or send the AU (“yellow certificate”) to the employer themselves. This obviates this obligation. The patients only receive a printed copy for their own documentation.

Certificate of incapacity for work: Why the AU is called “yellow bill”.

Why is it actually called “Yellow Note”? This rather colloquial term for the certificate of incapacity to work comes from the fact that the medical certificates that employees previously received were printed on yellow paper. Saying goodbye to the printed form of the AU also means saying goodbye to the “yellow certificate”.

Since the turn of the year there have been numerous changes in terms of taxes and social benefits. For some, however, the prospects look rosier than for others. An overview. (tu/slo)
