Chasing the sunset

bacardi Three young people travel from Istanbul (Turkey) to Essaouira (Morocco), traveling more than 4,000 kilometers. The objective? Chase the most beautiful sunsets. Baptized as the Bacardi Freedom Route, this trip not only seeks to promote friendship, optimism or perseverance, but is also seasoned with high doses of adventure. Travelers are accompanied by a suitcase whose contents they ignore and, at each intermediate point on their route, they face a dilemma: change it for another or continue with it.

Claudia, Nina and Quique had to make a multitude of decisions that turned the tables on the trip, a story that is being written daily on their blog.

Where does this idea come from? To understand it, you have to go back to the adventurous existence of the founder of Bacardi, Don Facundo Bacardí i Massó. He was born in Sitges in 1814, and before becoming a business magnate and creator of the rum brand, Don Facundo had an intense life. In love with the sea, he dreamed of embarking and exploring unknown lands, which is why, at just 15 years old, he emigrated to the New World. There, neither the scourge of the earthquakes of 1852, nor a cholera epidemic made him abandon his dreams and, thus, in 1862 he created the Bacardi company.

With that spirit of adventure and freedom, these boys have traveled inspired by the words of Ghandi "There is no way to freedom, freedom is the way". They chased the sunsets around the world and, with them, we shared the most beautiful sunset at the ME hotel in Madrid.
