How long would it take to construct a building following the traditional method? Probably several months, and even more than a year. Well, in China they have erected a 10-story building ready to move into in just 28 hours , just over a day. The construction company in charge of the project is ‘Broad’ and, in reality, it is not a construction as such, but a manufacture. And it is that the building has been created in a factory, in the same way as cars or furniture, and then it has been assembled in record time.
It is therefore a prefabricated building with a 100% modular design . All modules measure exactly the same: 12 meters of lake x 3 meters high and 2.44 meters wide. They are designed so that any train car or truck can transport them to the place where the building is to be erected.
It is a ‘Living Building’ because the modules are not fixed structures . That is, once they have been installed, the walls can be removed or moved to make houses and offices adapted to the tastes and needs of the clients.
According to ‘Broad’, the modules are made of stainless steel and are 100 times stronger and 10 times lighter than traditional cement constructions . They are capable of withstanding both typhoons and earthquakes, and their lifespan is 1,000 years, nothing more and nothing less.
Once the modules leave the factory and are transported to the place where the building will be erected, in this case a city in China, it only takes 28 hours to assemble them. Then it remains to connect the electricity and water , and they are ready to move in!
The manufacturing company points out that thanks to this technology it is possible to build skyscrapers of up to 200 floors in a short time . Most incredible of all, the buildings can be disassembled and reassembled anywhere else.
Finally, it should be noted that thanks to this system, energy efficiency is multiplied by 20 and the cost is five times cheaper.
