Chupacabra legend: what is it and when does it develop?

0

Many are the creatures that are intriguing and shrouded in mystery and even a bit of terror . This is the case of the Chupacabra, literally “the goat sucker” that for several decades seems to make occasional appearances, but is it real? Or is it all an invention? We are now talking about the legend of the chupacabra: what it is and in what time it takes place.

Chupacabra legend: what is it and when does it develop?

Who really is the Chupacabra? It was in 1970 that it was apparently mentioned for the first time. A mysterious creature that would have appeared on the island of Puerto Rico , in the Caribbean and then in South America. A creepy-looking being that would have killed thousands of animals (cows, sheep, goats, etc.) after having previously emptied them of their blood and other vital fluids.

As reported at the time, the mutilated animals would have found small perfectly circular holes (ranging from 0.6 cm to 1.25 cm) located deep in the neck , just below the jaw of the animal. In most cases, these holes reached the head of the animal, and more precisely the cerebellum, puncturing it and therefore immediately killing the animal. Therefore, these details seem to indicate a technique that avoids any suffering to the animal during its slaughter, which also implies a certain intelligence of the attacker.

Creature, coyote, or hoax?

When the news came out, the Puerto Rican authorities affirmed that the deaths of all these animals had been perpetrated by groups of stray dogs, coyotes or panthers illegally introduced to the island. Something that was denied by scientists and doctors, since no known predator on Earth uses such methods to kill its victims.

The theory also arose that someone had been determined to create a legend with which to scare people, so everyone began to talk about the “Chupacabra” without anyone knowing if it really exists or is it all a lie.

Since that first “attack” of the Chupacabra in the 1970s, many observers claim to have seen it. The creature would apparently have a terrifying appearance: oval head, prominent jaw, two large red eyes, small holes for nostrils, a small slit-shaped mouth with fangs that protrude up and down. Covered in black hair, it would have two small arms, with three-fingered hands ending in claws, as well as two strong three-clawed legs. Furthermore, this creature would move with excellent ease and skill.

A windfall for the economy

The commercial recovery was immediate, undoubtedly contributing to the amplification of the Chupacabra phenomenon. A true historical fact of society on the island, occupying minds, discussions, newspapers and even T-shirts, the Chupacabra remains, however, an unknown animal for science. In addition, many people tried to capture it and there were many hits, without success …

At the moment, only assumptions can be made about the origin of these animal mutilations. Is this the job of Chupacabra? Or is this creature just a legend taken too seriously?
