Getting an idea of the average weather conditions in Paris in any given month is an essential step in planning your trip to the city of light.
Paris experiences a temperate climate mainly influenced by the Atlantic Ocean. Winters are cold (but generally not freezing) and pleasantly warm during the summer without being scorching. With occasional influences from the Arctic air mass and warmer winds from North Africa, there are also times when the city can be very cold or very, very hot.
The city does not receive extreme amounts of precipitation. There are more rainy days throughout the winter, but accumulations are highest during the summer months when intense storms are common on hot, muggy days. Snow can occur, but it is rare and generally does not stick.

Spring in Paris is largely unstable, with temperatures ranging from pleasant to quite cold. Short snowfalls can occur even in March. There is even a saying “En avril, ne te decouvre pas d’un fil”, which means: “In April, do not remove a thread.” It can still be cold, with unpredictable gusts and showers. For May, a real thaw is underway, much to everyone’s delight. Still, it can be an extraordinarily rainy month.
What to pack: March brings a slight thaw, but not enough to go sleeveless. You will still need a lot of warm sweaters, as well as waterproof shoes and a jacket. Pack layers and make sure you have those waterproof clothes and shoes on hand.

Summer in the city of light is moderately warm and beautiful, or humid, hot, and humid. August is, like July, marked by sunny, hot times and wet stormy conditions. What to pack: June brings much warmer temperatures, but also lots of rain, including surprise thunderstorms. Pack your suitcase in layers and be sure to bring a raincoat or umbrella. September is only slightly cooler than July and August, and sometimes sees the conditions of the Indian summer. In the fall, you will see gradually dropping temperatures and increasing rain and clouds. It usually cools down in Paris in November or late October.
What to pack : Temperatures start to drop considerably in October, so pack warm sweaters and pants or dresses for colder days, and lighter items for hot, sunny days. And again, always have waterproof clothing in your suitcase for rainy days.
