Frankfurt – Anyone who was frightened by the rumbling thunder and sudden heavy rain last night must be prepared for more. In its forecast for Monday (October 24) and Tuesday (October 25) the German Weather Service (DWD) warns of thunderstorms in southern Hesse. An alternation of high and low pressure areas is responsible for the unstable weather.

As early as Monday afternoon there should be individual rain showers and thunderstorms in southern Hesse. In the afternoon it will be stormy in the rest of the state. Heavy rain of around 15 liters per square meter and stormy gusts of around 70 kilometers per hour are possible throughout Hesse.

DWD warns of thunderstorms in southern Hesse: Developments on Tuesday (October 25)

On Tuesday it will initially continue to be very cloudy in Hesse, but will become increasingly clear as the day progresses. According to the DWD, further thunderstorms are not expected.

The dangers of a thunderstorm should not be underestimated: Last year, Storm Ignatz swept over Hesse and caused chaos. A construction worker was injured. (vbu with dpa)
