Club Med Ixtapa Pacific Resort in Mexico

0

Looking for a family-friendly all-inclusive resort on the west coast of Mexico? The Club Med Ixtapa Pacific complex is spread over 31 acres near Zihuatanejo, about 100 miles north of Acapulco.

The complex features a host of recreational areas, including a full-size soccer field, tennis center, trapeze circus school, archery range, and a variety of water sports on the beach. An open-air beachfront palapa is used for gym classes and for rehearsals of children’s dance classes.

There are excellent programs for children, from babies to teens. While many resorts limit their supervised activity programs to potty-trained children ages 3 and older, Club Med is a boon for families with infants and toddlers.

Programs start for babies 4 months and older and last up to 17 years.

Features at Club Med Ixtapa Pacific

Club Med Ixtapa Pacific is blessed with a location of choice in Playa Quieta. This is a large community, built in a hacienda style in three-story buildings with terracotta tile roofs. King-size suites are available for families.

Eating is a highlight at Club Med. The main restaurant, El Encanto, has outdoor seating and several different style indoor areas with A / C; This restaurant is buffet style, and also has a baby food corner. The beachside Miramar has a la carte items and is open late. The elegant restaurant is the elegant Luna Azul, where reservations are needed.

The children’s programs at Club Med are extensive and highly rated by guests.

  • Baby Welcome is a program that provides benefits to families with babies, including loaner strollers, bathtubs, bottle warmers, urinals, and portable cribs. The restaurants have microwaves, bottle warmers, high chairs and booster seats. There is also a 24-hour convenience room with sterilizers, blenders, and bottle warmers.
  • Baby Club Med (4 to 23 months) and Petit Club Med (2 and 3 years) require registration and an additional charge.
  • Mini Club Med is offered for children from 4 to 10 years old, divided into various age groups. Children can participate in a wide range of fun and sporting activities. The circus school offers juggling, trampoline and trapeze workshops.
  • Junior Club Med is offered throughout the year for ages 11-13, and during some school holidays for ages 14-17. Junior Club Med has activities similar to the Mini-Club. Teen programs are less formal, and group activities are often decided by vote.

Tour options allow you to explore outside the complex. On our visit we did a beautiful horseback ride on a beautiful beach and an ATV tour that was a hit with the teens. A snorkeling trip to a nearby island is also a popular option. You can also easily visit Zihautenejo (“Zihau”) by taxi.

Keep in mind

  • Poolside loungers are great for families with young children
  • Lounge deck on the beach is nice at sunset
  • Lockers and changing rooms are available for those with late checkouts.
  • The buildings do not have elevators, so if you have a lot of children’s items, request a ground floor
  • Family suites are available.
  • Most rooms have a balcony or patio; request one if it is important to you
