About the film festival

The Comcast Outdoor Film Festival began in 1996 and was the first major outdoor screening event in the United States. The event began on the NIH Charities grounds and remained there until the events of 9/11 eliminated public access to the NIH grounds. The Film Festival later moved to several other locations, including the Music Hall in Strathmore and owned by the MCPS Board of Education. This year, the event returns to its most popular location on the Strathmore grounds.
