Cool off at Antioch water park

Description of the park

For people in the Antioch, California area looking to cool off or have fun in the water, the city operates a relatively small outdoor water park. Don’t expect to find any of the top attractions offered at larger parks, such as a slide, roller coaster, FlowRider surf ride, or funnel ride. Staples like a wave pool and lazy river aren’t even part of the mix. Instead, the Antioch water park offers more modest attractions, such as body slides and tube slides.

Younger children will enjoy the Otter Slide, a pint-size body slide designed just for them. They can also have fun in Tad Pool, a small pool for children.

Older children and adults will find more options. While none of the slides are particularly exciting (compared to the speed slides and other crazy gadgets at major water parks), the largest is the Canyon Cooler, a slide with a minimum height of 48 inches. Straddling the middle ground are three familiar slides: the attached glass slide, the Rattler’s Run tube slide, and the body slide, Humphrey’s slide.

Rounding out the features are the Boulder Cove Municipal Water Park, a pool with some water features, and the Sports Pool, which includes a water lily ride that challenges kids’ ability to keep their balance.

The city offers aquatic programs, including swimming lessons for children and adults and lifeguard training, as well as camping sessions at the Antioch Water Park. Classes and programs available include water aerobics, a parent-child bath, and lap swimming.
