In 2013, a dramatic accident abruptly ended the Formula 1 star’s career. The film “Schumacher” now traces the life of the Kerpener.

[Berlin -] For the first time since Michael Schumacher’s serious skiing accident eight years ago, his wife Corinna (52) gave insights into life afterwards with the Formula 1 record world champion.

“It is very clear that I miss Michael every day, and not just me, the children, the family, his father, everyone around him. Everyone misses Michael, ”says Corinna Schumacher in a Netflix documentary about the racing driver. In the film “Schumacher”, which will be available from September 15, the Kerpener’s unique career is highlighted, but the tragedy in December 2013 is not left out either.

Schumacher (52) suffered a traumatic brain injury in a fall despite a helmet and was in mortal danger. “I have never blamed God for why this happened now. It was just really bad luck. You can’t have more bad luck in life, ”says Corinna Schumacher. Shortly before the events in the French Alps, her husband said to her: “The snow is not ideal, we could fly to Dubai.”

Nothing more is known about Schumacher’s exact state of health. “We live together at home, we treat, we do everything so that Michael is better and doing well and that he simply feels our family solidarity,” says Corinna Schumacher in the 112 minute long film, some of which are also previously unpublished recordings from the Contains family life.

But they want to continue to protect the privacy of the sports superstar. “It is important that he can continue to enjoy his private life as well as he can. Michael has always protected us, now we protect Michael, ”says Corinna Schumacher. [dpa]
