Update from February 7th, 10:28 a.m .: Corona bang in Bavaria! According to information from the Munich Merkur from CSU circles, CSU boss Markus Söder is planning massive easing in the Free State. The plan is to open up the culture to 75 percent. The curfew for the gastronomy should be overturned. In future, instead of the current 10,000 fans, 15,000 will be allowed in stadiums, and standing room will then be allowed again. All of this is to be decided at the cabinet meeting on Tuesday. Söder wants to “open breathing instead of just locking up as a precaution,” participants in the video conference quote the Prime Minister and CSU leader as saying.

Munich – The number of new infections continues to rise day by day. The incidence in Munich at the beginning of the week (February 7) was 2392, and 1426 across Germany. Just a year ago, the then Minister of Health Jens Spahn (CDU) had declared incidences of less than 50 as a benchmark for easing – a year later the starting position could hardly be any different being. Because despite high incidences, the number in the intensive care units remains stable. For CSU boss Söder, one should therefore debate about easing the corona measures.

The Bavarian Prime Minister announced that he wanted to relax the gastro curfew in Bavaria. Whether at 11 p.m. or midnight – this should only be decided on Tuesday, February 8th. In addition, they want to allow more spectators in sports and culture. In previous assessments of the Corona situation, the Bavarian Prime Minister had already indicated a change of course in pandemic policy. The “Team Caution” from Munich became “Team Caution – with a sense of proportion”. So while Bavaria is looking for a new approach, Federal Minister of Health Lauterbach (SPD) warned against loosening too early. He told BILD that the current point in time for widespread easing was too early. Nevertheless, he emphasized that this could probably be tackled “well before Easter”. The reason: the peak of the omicron wave is expected in mid-February, then the situation can be reassessed.
