Corona case numbers: RKI reports a sharp increase in new infections to 92,223

Berlin/Frankfurt – The number of new corona infections reached the next daily high with 92,223 reported cases. The highest level so far was only reported yesterday (1301.2022) with 81,417 new infections. The incidence value for new infections in Germany has also been increasing continuously for weeks.

The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) announced the seven-day incidence for today (January 14, 2022) – it is 470.6. Yesterday, Thursday, the incidence was 427.7. The value quantifies the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants over a period of seven days. A week ago it was 303.4. More details coming soon.

Information on the number of cases

The case numbers of the RKI may differ from those of the individual federal states. One reason for this is the longer transmission paths between the RKI and the responsible health authorities. The RKI’s Covid-19 dashboard can also be adjusted during the day.
