The corona crisis has Germany firmly under control. For the 13th time in a row, the Robert Koch Institute has reported a maximum value for the corona incidence.
Frankfurt – The corona virus continues to spread unchecked. The bad news in connection with the Corona situation in Germany does not stop. According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), 63,924 people in Germany have been infected with the Sars-CoV-2 pathogen in the past 24 hours. That is significantly more than a week ago. The RKI had reported 45,081 new infections.
The RKI gave the nationwide seven-day incidence on Saturday at 362.2. The value that indicates the number of new corona infections per 100,000 inhabitants within a week has risen to a record value for the 13th day in a row. Yesterday the RKI had located the incidence at 340.7. A week ago the value was 277.4.
Corona case numbers in Germany: According to the RKI, the number of deaths is also increasing
The number of deaths in the Corona crisis has also increased in the past 24 hours, according to the RKI. 248 people died in the said period in connection with an illness of Covid-19. A week ago, the health authorities in the Federal Republic of Germany reported 228 deaths to the RKI.

According to the number of cases from the RKI, a total of 5,312,215 people in Germany were infected with the corona virus. The total number of infections is likely to be significantly higher, however, since many infections are not registered and are therefore not included in the statistics. The total number of people who died of Covid-19 in connection with an illness is 98,987, according to RKI figures. A total of 4,610,300 people in Germany are now considered to have recovered from an infection with the coronavirus.
Corona case numbers: hospitalization rate in Germany is increasing
On this Saturday morning, the RKI will also be providing information on the number of hospitalized corona patients in Germany. The hospitalization incidence reflects the number of patients admitted to clinics with a corona disease. According to the RKI, it was 5.34 on Friday. On Thursday the value was given as 5.3. The number is now considered to be the most important parameter when it comes to the question of more stringent measures in the Corona crisis. The previous high level of hospitalization was around 15.5 last Christmas. The RKI reports the incidence of hospitalization with delay, because the admissions in the hospitals are usually reported to the RKI with a delay. (Daniel Dillmann)
