Corona: Germany's largest concert arena fears about events

In the Lanxess Arena in Cologne, numerous events and concerts had to be canceled or postponed in 2021. Arena boss Stefan Lochs gives an outlook on 2022.

Cologne – The Lanxess Arena * has space for up to 20,000 visitors. Germany's largest event hall in Cologne * has not been that full for a long time. Because since the corona pandemic, only significantly fewer fans have been allowed to attend concerts in the Lanxess Arena – if it is open to visitors at all. At the end of 2021, just 5,000 visitors were allowed. "For us, the limitation to 5,000 visitors equates to a business closure," says Stefan Lochs, managing director of the Lanxess Arena. Now the arena is worried about events like the popular "Laughing Cologne Arena", which is planned for the end of January 2022.

The Lanxess Arena in Cologne-Deutz has welcomed almost half a million visitors since March 2020 – and had no proven corona case. According to Loch, this positive balance is due to the ventilation system, which exchanges all the air with fresh air in under 30 minutes. * 24RHEIN is an offer from IPPEN.MEDIA
