Corona in Germany: RKI reports almost 53,000 new infections – incidence at an all-time high

The corona incidence value in Germany continues to rise. The RKI with the number of cases for Wednesday (November 17, 2021).

Berlin / Frankfurt – The nationwide seven-day incidence has risen again. The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) has now published the number of new corona infections per 100,000 inhabitants and week for Wednesday (November 17, 2021). The seven-day incidence is now almost 320, and the number of new infections has reached a sad all-time record. Details in brief.

The case numbers of the RKI can differ from those of the individual federal states. One reason for this is the longer transmission routes between the RKI and the responsible health authorities. The RKI’s Covid-19 dashboard can also be adjusted during the day.

The seven-day incidence indicates the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days. On Monday of last week, the value had exceeded the threshold of 200, which had been the highest level since the beginning of the pandemic. Since then, new highs have been recorded every day.

The Robert Koch Institute publishes the figures on the corona situation in Germany on a daily basis.

According to the latest information from the RKI, 52,826 new coronavirus infections and 294 other deaths related to Covid-19 were recorded within 24 hours. The total number of registered cases of infection in Germany since the start of the pandemic rose to 5,129,950, the total number of recorded deaths in connection with a corona infection to 98,274.
