Corona variant Omikron in Italy: “Will likely see an increase in cases”
The omicron variant of the coronavirus is spreading rapidly in Italy, according to the National Health Institute (ISS). New infections with the Omikron variant were reported mainly from the south and north of the country. On Saturday (December 18, 2021) the ISS announced that 84 Omikron cases were known in the country so far, a “strong acceleration” of 55 cases on Friday. 33 of the cases were found in Lombardy around the city of Milan, 20 cases in the region around Naples.
