For weeks, the corona pandemic in Germany has finally seemed to relax, the 7-day incidence, which is decisive for the corona measures, is falling from day to day.
But now the Robert Koch Institute has recorded an increase in the incidence for the first time since the beginning of May. And the death rate is also rising rapidly. On Tuesday morning, Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn and RKI President Lothar Wieler will provide information about the current situation in Germany.

Although the corona situation in Germany has been easing for weeks, many experts are still observing the current infection process with particular caution. And indeed: on Tuesday, June 1, 2021, the RKI reported a slight increase in individual corona factors for the first time in weeks.
For the first time in three weeks, the 7-day incidence * is higher than the day before. According to this, 35.2 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants per week were reported to the health authorities in the past 24 hours. The day before, the value was given as 35.1 (previous week: 58.4). The most recent increase was from May 9th to May 10th, and has fallen continuously since then. It is difficult to assess exactly what the increase in incidence means. After Whit Monday (May 24th), the RKI pointed out that the holiday may have initially led to fewer reported pathogen detection – and thus a lower incidence.
Corona in Germany: RKI reports significantly more deaths than in the previous week
Meanwhile, there is still a positive trend in reporting the current infection numbers. Within one day, the health authorities reported 1785 new corona infections to the RKI. For comparison: a week ago the value was 1911 infections. The number of people who died from or with the virus rose on Tuesday, June 1, 2021, but increased rapidly compared to the previous week. According to the information, 153 new deaths were recorded across Germany within 24 hours. A week ago there were 33 dead. On Monday, May 31, 2021, the RKI reported 36 dead corona patients nationwide, on the previous Monday there were 43 fatalities.
