The federal and state governments had announced that they would offer more vaccination opportunities for children with a view to starting school after the summer holidays – also in vaccination centers and in medical practices. The Standing Vaccination Commission (Stiko) recommends corona vaccinations for children for the time being only if there is a higher risk of severe corona courses, for example due to diseases such as diabetes. According to Stiko, vaccinations are possible with medical advice and as an individual decision by children and parents. The vaccines from Biontech * and Moderna * are approved for ages 12 and up.
Corona vaccination quota in Germany – Saxony continues to bring up the rear
According to the Federal Ministry of Health, a total of 45.8 million people or 55.1 percent of the total population are now fully vaccinated with the second injection, which is usually necessary. 52 million people, or 62.5 percent of the population, have at least one first vaccination.
In a comparison of the federal states, Bremen is still at the top with 71.7 percent at least once and 64.8 percent fully vaccinated residents. Saxony remains at the bottom with 52.9 percent at least once and 48.9 percent fully vaccinated residents. Vaccination is one of the pillars in the fight against the corona pandemic.
