Actor Bill Cosby has been sentenced to prison for three to ten years for sexually assaulting a woman at his Philadelphia mansion 14 years ago. The sentence has been handed down by a Philadelphia judge. The 81-year-old comedian has been cold and without any reaction when listening to the judge. "No one is above the law," the judge told Bill Cosby. The formerly popular comedian had been included, by the same judge and during the same hearing, in a state's violent sexual predator registry. Kennedy Center voted to withdraw Bill Cosby's Kennedy Center Honors and the Mark Twain Award for American Humor, two of the country's top art awards, following the comedian's conviction for sexual assault, the organization reported Monday. "As a result of Mr. Cosby's recent criminal conviction, the Board concluded that his actions have overshadowed the professional achievements that these Kennedy Center distinctions seek to recognize, ”the organization announced in a statement. The criminal conviction and imprisonment is a devastating final chapter in the Career of this 20th century American pop culture giant, the son of a maid who became the first black actor to win an Em my and occupy a starring role in primetime on American television. The case, without physical evidence, basically boiled down to Cosby's word against his accuser, and essentially depended on the credibility the jury gave Constand, a 45-year-old former basketball player and current physical therapist.
