Cost limit? Aston Martin F1 responds to the accusations

There has been no confirmation from the FIA in either case, but in the paddock at Singapore’s Marina Bay, various sources, including some rival team bosses, suggested that Aston Martin may have committed a “procedural” infringement. , and a less serious rule violation than the one allegedly associated with Red Bull.

However, Mike Krack insists that the FIA has not informed them of any problems before the expected confirmation on Wednesday, when it will be revealed which teams fully complied with the spending limit in 2021.

“It’s a process where information is presented, and then the FIA looks at it and comes back with questions,” he said when asked by Motorsport.com about the cost cap revisions.

“And that process is still going on. So we don’t really know what the outcome is going to be. There’s a discussion going on. We have questions about the interpretation and they do too.”

“And we were surprised to read our name in that matter. So, we’ll see. We don’t think we did anything serious.”

In June, Williams was fined $25,000 (25,500 euros) for filing late. Asked if Aston Martin might have made a management error, Krack said: “I’m not aware of any, I don’t think so. As I said, there were some questions that our finance people are also answering. to wait and see what the outcome will be. But we’re not stressed about it.”

Krack admitted it had been frustrating for the team to have the finger pointed at them during their preparations for the Singapore Grand Prix.

“It’s annoying. I think the most important thing is to stay focused during the weekend. When Thursday or Friday starts like this, it’s important not to distract people.”

“And from our point of view, the good thing was that it wasn’t only pointed out to us, because the media concentrated on the other team. It’s unfortunate that these things come out like this, but it is Formula 1.

Some rival teams have suggested that Aston Martin has recently spent a lot of money on transfers, and offered higher salaries, hinting that the team’s salary bill may have gone over the limit.

“This is typical of the paddock, the best defense is offense,” Krack said. “I think in the end we shouldn’t forget that we are considerably less people than most of the other teams.”

“We have to look at ourselves. There will be no exchange of words on our part, we have to concentrate on progressing. This is much more important than using the press to make statements.”
