Crutchlow emerges from the depths of Sepang in MotoGP FP2

0

Sepang.- The downpour that forced Moto2 training to be stopped for a long time, and the start of MotoGP to be postponed, meant that no one could improve the times recorded in the morning, and placed those who , like Pecco Bagnaia, are not guaranteed their presence in the second qualifying round.

With a track that was drying up fast, Crutchlow led the table with nine tenths of a margin over the leader of the general classification, and with 1.1 seconds over Alex Márquez, the third.

The fourth fastest lap went to Jack Miller, who, in turn, was more than a second ahead of Johann Zarco (fifth). Maverick Viñales finished sixth, more than three and a half seconds behind the fastest and a few thousandths ahead of Franco Morbidelli (seventh).

The eighth fastest time went to Joan Mir, while Fabio Quartararo closed a top ten highly conditioned by the weather.

Marc Márquez, meanwhile, closed his best lap more than four and a half seconds behind Crutchlow.

At this point, it remains to be seen under what circumstances the third training session will take place this Saturday, the last opportunity that Bagnaia has to get rid of having to go through the qualifying round (Q1) prior to the qualifying session. It should not be forgotten that the 14-point margin he has in his favor gives the Turin native the first match point to give Ducati its first MotoGP title since 2007 (Stoner). The most direct way to achieve it would be for the #63 to take the win and Quartararo not get on the podium.
