In June, a man drives a car into two groups of people in Berlin. A woman dies, there are 32 injured. After the fact, more than 140 victims reported.

Berlin – After the death drive in Berlin City-West on June 8, the authorities registered 142 victims. They come from Hesse and seven other federal states and three other EU countries, as the Senate Justice Department announced. This is where the office is based that coordinates the offer of help for the injured, first aiders or eyewitnesses.

A woman was killed and, according to the public prosecutor’s office, 32 people were injured in the alleged shooting on Ku’damm and Tauentzienstrasse. A school class from Hesse was particularly affected. The teacher died, and one teacher and seven students were taken to hospitals with serious injuries.

A spokesman for the judiciary explained that all those affected received a personal information letter in their native language from the central contact point. It had been agreed with Hessen that the representative of the Hessian state government for victims of serious acts of violence and terrorist attacks would contact the people there.

Advice hotline set up after the fact

After the crime, Berlin had set up an advice line. This offer expired at the end of August, as the spokesman announced. However, all those affected still have the option of contacting the psychosocial team at the contact point.

According to the prosecutor, the 29-year-old driver is still in a psychiatric hospital. The authorities accuse the German-Armenian of murder in one case and attempted murder in 17 cases. Investigators are convinced that the man’s mental illness led to the death trip.

The man had driven a car in two groups on Kurfürstendamm and Tauentzienstrasse near the Zoo station and Memorial Church. dpa
