In the state of Colorado, you need a Colorado driver’s license, an identification number from the Colorado Department of Revenue, or the last four digits of your social security number to register to vote in person. When you get your driver’s license, you can automatically register to vote at the DMV. The last day to register to vote in a specific election is 29 days before that election.
Voter registration requirements
- You must be a US citizen.
- You must be 18 years of age on or before the date of the election.
- You must reside in Colorado at your current address for at least 30 days prior to the election.
For voter registration forms, visit the Colorado Secretary of State website. The form takes 20 days to process. If you do not have a Colorado driver’s license, additional identification may be required if you register to vote by mail.
Where to vote in Denver
Although most local elections are conducted by mail ballot, polling places are available throughout Denver for important elections. If you are already registered to vote, you will automatically receive a mail-in ballot in Denver for the 2016 general election.

On Election Day, Voter Service Centers will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Early Voting in Denver
Early voting generally begins several weeks before Election Day at voter service centers. Early voting generally lasts from 10 am to 6 pm Monday through Friday and from 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday at all locations except the Denver Elections Division. The Denver Elections Division will likely be open for early voting from 8 am to 6 pm Monday through Friday and from 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday.
Voting and criminal convictions
In Colorado, convicted criminals reserve the right to vote as long as they have served their sentence and are not currently on probation. Offenders currently incarcerated or on probation cannot vote. However, if you are in jail or on probation for a misdemeanor, you can still vote.
