Despite the gas crisis, the NRW office warns: do not set the water temperature too cold

The current gas crisis is enticing many homeowners to economize. But a means of saving energy can also have health risks. Read more here:

NRW – Gas and energy prices remain at a high level. Homeowners therefore take various measures to save costs.

However, the district health office in Unna warns against lowering the hot water temperature to below 60 degrees Celsius, RUHR24 knows. The reason for this is the risk of Legiomella in the water.

Legiomellen are a natural component of groundwater, but multiply particularly well at a water temperature of 25 to 45 degrees. They can cause a variety of disease progressions, from flu-like symptoms to severe pneumonia.
