Deutsche Bahn: New rules for children – that's changing

0

Deutsche Bahn is planning numerous innovations. One of these concerns families with children between the ages of six and 14: What parents need to know in the future.

Frankfurt – So far, children between the ages of six and 14 were allowed to travel free of charge on Deutsche Bahn as long as they were traveling with their birth parents. Stepchildren, for example, were not given free travel. The state-owned company now wants to change this rule, reports the news magazine Spiegel.

After December 12th, accompanying persons aged 15 and over should be able to take up to four children with them, regardless of their family relationships. This means that older siblings – including step siblings – also count as supervisors. Children under the age of 15 traveling alone can purchase their ticket for half the price.

Deutsche Bahn is planning discounts for young travelers: “Supersparpreis Young” is to come

According to the report by the news magazine, the new rule will apply to all long-distance trains operated by Deutsche Bahn. The company wants to respond to the changing understanding of family and parenting, they say. In addition, the railway company will be offering young travelers between the ages of 15 and 26 the so-called “Supersparpreis Young” in the future.

This should probably become part of the normal ticket offer. The saver prices should also be combinable with the Bahncard. Tickets for ICE and IC could then be available for less than ten euros.

In addition to the postage and the minimum wage, there are also far-reaching changes planned at Deutsche Bahn for 2022. (aa)
