Now a Reddit user has shared a Google Maps image that corresponds to a Pacific island, and the most curious thing of all is that seen from above it looks like a black hole .
A black hole in the middle of the Pacific?
User @kokoblocks shared his finding on Reddit and, as always happens with this kind of thing, different theories emerged about what the mysterious black hole could be. The user has not given the coordinates of the place, but one of the comments suggests that Google Maps could have censored the island since it does not make any sense that a natural formation was so black and extensive on a small island. There have also been those who have ventured to say that it is the island of the ‘Lost’ series.
But where exactly is this island? A user has managed to find the coordinates on Google Maps. It is an uninhabited island of Vostok, in the Central Pacific, northeast of Australia . It is part of the Republic of Kiribati, an island country with a population of 110,000. It has existed since the first half of the 19th century, when the Russian explorer Fabian Gottlieb von Bellingshausen was in the area aboard his ship Vostok, hence the islet’s name.
Although we really like conspiracy theories, there seems to be a logical explanation for the mysterious black hole found on Google Maps. The center of the island is covered with a very dense forest of plants of the Pisonia genus, which give the core its dark color . As for the bluish tone that surrounds the island, it is a color painted so that the oceans appear uniform on the maps. Mystery solved!
‘SOS’ sign in a remote desert
This is not the first time that we have witnessed the strangest appearances in Google tools . At the beginning of September 2021 a Youtuber shared a Google Earth image in which a very large sign appeared with the following message: ‘SOS STRANDED’. The most curious thing is that the poster was located in a remote area of the desert, east of Egypt.
