Disney Cruises Caribbean Guide

0

Disney Cruise Line brings the mouse’s unique approach to entertainment in the Caribbean with a trio of cruise ships: Magic , Wonder and Dream . Ships are popular with families, of course, and Disney does a good business selling land / sea packages combining cruises with a visit to the Magic Kingdom, but these ships are worthy cruises in their own right, too.

Disney Cruise Line: Ships Cruising the Caribbean

The 877-passenger Disney Magic and the Disney Wonder are sister ships with a few design differences: art deco for the Magic, art nouveau for the Wonder. Both feature excellent Disney entertainment, from live shows to first-run movies. Disney’s “imaginers” outdid themselves, especially in designing the specialty restaurants on board; the food is far from standard theme park fare. The ships have nightclubs, shops, a spa, gym and children’s program, but they do not have a casino.

Disney Cruise Line: Caribbean Ports

Both the Magic and the Wonder are located in Port Canaveral, on Florida’s east coast, near Cape Canaveral, about a 40-minute drive from the Orlando area and Walt Disney World. Melbourne International Airport is the closest commercial airport to the port.

Disney Cruise Line: Caribbean Ports of Call

Disney Wonder has just two ports of call: Nassau, Bahamas, and Disney’s own private island, Castaway Cay. Disney Magic visits St. Martin, St. Thomas, Key West, Cozumel, Mexico, and Castaway Cay. Located on a 1,000-acre island in the Bahamas, Castaway Cay offers secluded beaches, restaurants, snorkeling, children’s games, biking, hiking, kayaking, and other water sports. Some Disney Cruise Line itineraries now include two stops on the island.

  • The Bahamas
  • The United States Virgin Islands

Disney Cruise Line: Caribbean Itineraries

Disney Wonder cruises for 3 and 4 nights from Port Canaveral to Nassau and Castaway Cay. The Disney Magic operates on alternate 7-night Eastern and Western itineraries. The eastern itinerary includes stops at St. Martin, St. Thomas, and Castaway Cay; The western itinerary includes stops in Key West, Grand Cayman in the Cayman Islands, Cozumel and Castaway Cay.
