Disney Plus will offer an economic plan, but with advertising at the end of 2022

Disney Plus announced that it will add a cheaper subscription than the current one, but with advertising, later this year.

This new subscription tier will come to the United States first and expand internationally in 2023.

The company hasn't said how much cheaper it will be to sign up for its new ad-supported tier, or when exactly it will launch. In Mexico, the standard level costs 159 pesos per month or 1,599 pesos for the annual subscription.

It is not the first streaming platform to try to attract new customers in this way. In 2021, HBO introduced a plan that, in the United States, costs $5 less than the original $10.

For the cheaper HBO Max, not only was advertising included, but also limitations on HD and 4K content.

The Hulu platform, currently owned by Disney, also offers ad-free and ad-supported plans for about half the cost of the original $12.99 per month plan.

Currently, Disney Plus has 129.8 million subscribers, but its goal is to reach 230 or even 260 million users by 2024. And, in this sense, this new strategy of ad-supported plans can help the company meet this goal. .
