This year’s bathing season is not over yet and the DLRG is already drawing a tragic balance sheet. Find out more here:

NRW – The warm days of this summer are drawing many people from NRW to the bathing lakes. People often swim in waters where there is no lifeguard supervision. If an emergency situation then arises, the chance of rescue is often zero, according to the German Life Saving Society (DLRG).

Fatal swimming accidents occur time and again. The DLRG is already reporting twice as many bathing deaths for this year’s bathing season as at the same time last year, RUHR24 knows.

Lifeguards say the reason for this is the failure to teach children to swim during the pandemic. But carelessness and overconfidence also contribute to the fact that people drown in water again and again.
