On the other hand, hope is given by the unprecedented solidarity and willingness to help the victims of the flood disaster across Germany. Lidl has already donated 10 million euros to the flood victims (BW24 * reported). But other companies also pledged support for the affected areas. After the flood disaster, Daimler sent special vehicles *. But business and politics are not alone in combating the consequences of floods. Even private individuals donate money or even support those affected on site. As the SWR reports, there are unfortunately also people who belong to the lateral thinker and conspiracy scene.

Accordingly, Nikolai N., who calls himself “public teacher”, has mixed with the numerous volunteers in the flood areas. He has already appeared regularly at lateral thinker demonstrations and, among other things, doubted the existence of the corona virus. According to SWR , the lateral thinker is currently in Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler and posts videos from the areas affected by the flood disaster on his Telegram channel.
Compared to his over 30,000 subscribers, Nikolai N. is delighted not to see fire brigade and technical aid workers everywhere. “This is great because it finally gives us personal responsibility. And can show that we don’t even need all of these FRG organizations, ”said the“ Volkslehrer ”in a video. In doing so, the lateral thinker uses the narratives of Reich citizens and presents himself “as the good guy who is really there for the people,” said social psychologist Pia Lamberty to the SWR .
The ENT doctor and pandemic denier Bodo Schiffmann from Sinsheim has also set up a donation account “for flood victims”, which is said to have received around half a million euros. The doctor from Baden-Württemberg rushes against Angela Merkel among his 140,000 followers *.
Support after the flood disaster: Association from the lateral thinker scene is rejected on site
While helpers from the Stuttgart region were sent home after the flood disaster *, supporters from the lateral thinker scene apparently repeatedly come to the flood areas. The association “Parents Stand Up” planned to set up a family center for the flood victims in Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler. Since the group had already warned of the corona vaccination in the past and mobilized against masks, the Family Ministry in Rhineland-Palatinate prevented this.
Those responsible at the ministry justified this approach to the SWR with clear words: “Free-rider attempts from the lateral thinker scene, who spread their ideology under the guise of ‘offers of help’, are of no further use in the crisis. The fact that people who reject health protection in a pandemic now claim an official role in the mental and psychological care of children had to be stopped immediately. “
In response to allegations that the association “Parents stand up” was close to the lateral thinker scene, the latter reacted with incomprehension. It is a “shamelessness to make any political views of the unbureaucratic and ad hoc helpers an issue”. For the Ministry of the Interior in Rhineland-Palatinate, however, what is currently happening is unfortunately no surprise.
