The multinational announced a few weeks ago that it will remove personal identification information from Google search results for those users who request it. The new feature is being implemented to allow consumers much more control over their sensitive personally identifiable information.

Under this new expansion of the company ‘s privacy policy , any user can now request removal of additional types of information when they find it in search results, including personal contact information such as a phone number, email address email or physical address. The privacy policy update also allows for the removal of additional information that may pose an identity theft risk, such as sensitive login credentials, when it appears in search results.
If you’ve done a quick Google search and seen personal data, here’s how you can remove it:
First of all, go to the Google support website. Once there, navigate to the “Request to delete your personal information on Google” option. When you click on the link, a form appears that you must fill out, providing authentic information about yourself backed by links that show that you are not trying to impersonate anyone, or that the data you intend to delete corresponds to a real person.
Once you have filled out the form, and after completing the necessary details about the information you want Google to remove from its search results, submit it. Within 24-48 hours, Google will send you an automated response confirming that your request has been received. The company will then review it and may ask you to provide more information and clarify some information. If Google takes action, and does remove the content you’ve requested, Google will let you know via email.

Users who submit a request to Google to remove personal content should remember that removing content from Google Search will not remove it from the Internet, so you may need to contact the website where that content is hosted directly.
Google has also recently released an update to allow parents of users under the age of 18 to remove content from search results. In addition to this update, they’ve also implemented a new policy to allow people under the age of 18 (or their parents or guardians) to request removal of their images from Google Search results. However, as it happens with the data in the search results, those images will still be on the Internet, since Google only deindexes it, but let’s not forget that it is a search engine and only shows what is on the network.
