Two weeks after putting on track for the first time the new ground effect single-seaters that will kick off a new era for Formula 1 this season, teams will have one last chance to work on their cars before heading into the first race of the season.
As happened in Barcelona, each team will have to divide the three days of testing between its two drivers, since by regulation, each team can only put one car on the asphalt, a detail that also takes reliability into account, since missing several hours of preseason could make the difference between a good or a bad start to the course.
At the Circuit de Barcelona – Catalunya, the teams gave a first image of what Formula 1 could be in 2022, with Mercedes, Ferrari, Red Bull and McLaren standing out above their rivals. While Alpine, Haas and Alfa Romeo did not leave very good feelings.
However, this could change drastically in Shakir, since after two weeks of very intense work with the first data collected by the real car of 2022, some teams hope to take that long-awaited step forward that will put them in a privileged position for the start of a new season that promises a lot of spectacle.
As a novelty, Haas is the only team on the grid that will change its drivers compared to its line-up in the first tests in Barcelona. The Americans terminated their contract with Uralkali and Nikita Mazepin, while confirming Pietro Fittipladi for the Bahrain tests.
Observe the way in which the teams have decided to distribute the last three days of pre-season testing in 2022, trying to give the same opportunities to their two drivers despite having an odd number of days.
