DS makes the leap to electrification in a definitive way

0

Since it was launched as an independent brand from Citroën , DS Automobiles has made it very clear that it is marking its own path. The first models adopted an innovative, sophisticated and distinctive aesthetic from the rest of the PSA group, showing that another way of creating cars is possible. The combination of French craftsmanship and the latest technology has elevated them to the premium category, but it is not enough. Electrification was part of their strategy from the start, getting a range electrified before anyone else. Currently available from dealers: the 100% electric DS 3 CROSSBACK E-TENSE, the DS 4 E-TENSE plug-in hybrid, the DS 7 CROSSBACK E-TENSE and the DS 9 E-TENSE. All of them comply with the pillars of French know-how, the mantra that has veteran each of the firm’s launches, based in Paris but of German manufacture in some cases.

The plan took effect, becoming the leading multi-energy brand in the old continent with an average CO2 emissions of 83.1 g / km . This has been thanks to the fact that 30% of DS registrations have been from its electrified range, one of the most efficient and technological in an increasingly restrictive market. But it is not enough, even less with the projects that are approved week after week in European cities. Electrification must be final.

First 100% electric brand

DS Automobiles is part of the PSA group, which a few months ago also acquired the FCA group (Jeep, Fiat and Chrysler), to create the conglomerate called Stellantis. As the spearhead of innovation, the premium French firm will be the first manufacturer to be completely electric by 2024. In this way, it will lead the leap of a group that was created to face the challenges of a constantly changing sector, not only at the level of propulsion and pollution, also in the philosophy of acquisition by customers.

That goal can be set thanks to decisions such as participating in Formula E, being the pioneer in participating and winning two consecutive drivers and teams titles. A success that ensures its presence on the grid until 2026, starting the development of new more powerful and efficient cars from which the knowledge for production cars is extracted. Doubts and constant improvements arise from the paddocks and telemetry studies , which is why we are evolving by leaps and bounds in terms of electric mobility. And it is not the only modality devised by Agag, which has also launched the EXTREM E with the participation of firms such as Cupra .

The plan is as follows: by 2024 DS Automobiles will offer its commercial offer by selling an electric version of the DS 4 . It will then gradually add new vehicles to its range, launching Stellantis’ 100% electric program based on the STLA MEDIUM platform . This architecture allows it to equip batteries of up to 104 kWh, which could mean the creation of zero-emission cars with ranges of 700 kilometers. But not only that, they also work hard on reducing loading times and cutting-edge functionality in connectivity, driving aids and safety.
