Ducati plans to land in the Motocross World Championship in 2024

This is in line with Ducati 's plans to diversify its model range and get into the dirt bike sector, especially after the launch of its DesertX earlier this year.

Earlier this month, the On Track Off Road portal pointed to a potential entry for the Italian manufacturer in the MXGP world championship, with a view to 2024, when Triumph is also scheduled to join.

This possibility has been taking shape over the last few months, in which the constructor has continued to take steps forward, even though a series of stages must still be burned before it materializes.

The idea that Ducati has is to start the first version of the engine, a 450cc four-stroke propeller, before the end of this year, with the intention of starting its development in 2023. In a first stage, the prototype would begin to compete in races venues, mostly in Italy, to make the leap to the MXGP World Championship in 2024.

However, things will not stop there, given that the objective of the red bike company is to take part in the small category (MX2), in a second phase immediately after the first, as well as in Supercross, in the United States , the second most important market if we take into account the number of motorcycles sold there (5,239 units) in the first half of 2022, only behind Italy (6,028 units).
