"Dune" will premiere at the Venice Film Festival

Dune is undoubtedly the most anticipated next literary adaptation of 2021. Damaged by the pandemic and with several delays, the first of the two parts that Denis Villeneuve intends to premiere on Frank Herbert’s work has been involved in recent weeks in controversy over the premiere disagreements between Warner and the director. Villeneuve does not want, under any circumstances, that the film opens simultaneously in theaters and HBO Max , but in the end the company’s strategy will be done that way along with all its other releases scheduled for 2021. At least, before all this happens. , Dune will premiere at the Venice Film Festival outside the competitive setting.

It is about the director’s return to the quintessential Italian film event since the premiere of The Arrival in 2016 . It is not the first time that Warner has used Venice as a catapult for its big blockbusters, as was the case with the successful case of the Joker , which won the festival’s grand prize. The official date of that premiere will be September 3, practically a month before we can enjoy it in theaters.

Dune stars Timothée Chalamet as the son of the Duke of Leto, Paul Atreides. In this first starring role in a blockbuster, your character must confront both the rival enemy family, the Harkonnen, and gain the trust of the natives of Arrakis , the planet that the Empire has given his family as a dukedom. Dune will premiere at the Venice Film Festival and although it may seem an atypical film due to its basic story, it is actually a political thriller in which a whole series of mechanisms and power duels come into play, nothing typical of planetary productions such as it could be the case of Star Wars.

But Chalamet will not be alone in this adventure as Villeneuve has assembled an incredible cast that also includes Oscar Isaac, Zendaya, Jason Momoa, Josh Brolin, Dave Bautista, Javier Bardem, Rebecca Ferguson and Stellan Skarsgard as the antagonist Baron Vladimir harkonnen. The adaptation of the story, which will be divided into two parts, is carried out by the director himself, Jonh Spaihts and Eric Roth.
