Tourist activity during the Holy Week and Easter period left an economic spill of around 170 billion pesos, 20% more than was calculated, reported the Confederation of National Chambers of Commerce, Services and Tourism (Concanaco-Servytur). .

The agency stated in a statement that a spill of 140 billion pesos was originally projected for the vacation period, which this year was held from April 9 to 24.

He explained that the hotel occupancy of sun and beach tourist destinations and large cities such as the country's capital, Magical Towns and colonial cities reached an average rate of over 85%. Although cases such as Mazatlán, Acapulco and Los Cabos reached figures of up to 95%.

The numbers indicate that some 10 million domestic tourists traveled around the country, as well as a significant influx of international visitors, mainly from the United States, Canada and Europe.

“This holiday period has been one of the best in many years, whose success was very positively influenced by the fact that the epidemiological traffic lights are green throughout the country.

"Our cameras report a large influx in hotels, restaurants and entertainment sites," said the president of the Concanaco-Servytur, Héctor Tejada Shaar.
