Erfurt – A stranger attacked and injured two passers-by with a knife in Erfurt on Monday morning. The attacker then fled, the police said on Monday. The two attacked are 45 and 68 years old. They were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. According to a police spokeswoman, the injuries were not life-threatening. The police initially did not disclose any further details. The background to the attack was also still unclear.

The fugitive was first searched for with a helicopter, later a dog was used to look for the man. The alleged perpetrator is said to be between 20 and 30 years old. He wore a brown sweater and dark sweatpants, had blonde to reddish curly hair and a scarred face. The focus was on the Erfurt district of Wiesenhügel. According to the police, several reports from the population about the incident were received on Monday.

The police have not yet been able to provide any information about the background to the crime. According to the spokeswoman, the two attacked could not be heard on the facts because they were under medical treatment. So it is also unclear whether the perpetrator and the victim knew each other or were in any way related to each other.
