The Aprilia rider went airborne and crashed into the tarmac at Silverstone Circuit on Saturday lunchtime, just minutes into FP4 at the British Grand Prix .

Initially, Aleix Espargaró lay prostrate on the ground, unable to get up even with the help of the marshals, which suggested a serious injury. After going through the circuit’s medical center, however, the World Cup doctors ruled out any fracture or injury that would prevent him from going ahead with the grand prize.

The Catalan managed to break the circuit record in Q2, although he was later surpassed, and face the race, with difficulty, but finishing ninth and losing only one point to the leader of the contest, Fabio Quartararo, from whom he is now separated by 22 points as first and second overall.

However, the pilot’s idea was to pass a review this Monday at the Dexeus in Barcelona. “My whole body hurts, I’m going to the hospital to have tests done everywhere to rule out any injuries we haven’t seen,” the runner said Sunday afternoon.

This Monday, Aleix underwent a thorough check-up at the Dexeus Hospital in Barcelona , where he was diagnosed with a fracture in the heel of his right foot, Aprilia explained in a statement.

On the same note, the Noale -based team rules out that the pilot requires an operation.

“The injury does not require surgical treatment, and the pilot has been prescribed seven days of absolute rest during which he must use crutches so as not to force the injured right foot,” they point out.

The rider from Granollers now has ten days to recover fully before his next appointment, next week at the Red Bull Ring .

“The objective is to arrive at the next race weekend (August 19-21, Austria) in the best physical conditions”, settles the Aprilia note.
