Espargaró: "The circuits that arrive now offer us a good opportunity"

Aleix Espargaró, who turned 33 last Saturday, had never seen himself in one of these before. The Spanish rider, who is entering his sixth season at Aprilia, is immersed in the fight for the MotoGP world championship, second overall and just 21 points behind the leader, Fabio Quartararo. The Frenchman will also have to pay a long lap penalty in the British Grand Prix race, which is being held this weekend at Silverstone and marks the restart of the competition after a five-week summer break, which draws a golden opportunity for the rider from Granollers to scratch a few more points from the defending champion.

“This year more than ever we needed this break very much!” admits Aleix in the Silverstone preview.

“The first part of the season has been incredible, but the new situation we are experiencing has also demanded a lot of physical and mental energy,” admits Aleix, referring to the pressure of fighting for the championship.

Espargaró, very active on his social networks, has been ‘broadcasting’ his holidays, which have combined rest and enjoyment with the family, with intense and varied training, in which, obviously, the bicycle, his favorite sport, has not been lacking .

“We needed to recharge our batteries,” he says, both to recover and to face a restart that could be decisive for his title chances.

“Now we have some circuits ahead of us that offer us an opportunity and in which both Aprilia and I have the possibility of continuing to add important results. Starting with Silverstone, a circuit that I like and in which I have always managed to be quite competitive”, warns the Catalan.
