According to the Buenaventura Regional Port Society, more than 11,500 tons of coffee, 12,000,000 tons of sugar, 1,800 tons of solid bulk, 1,200 tons of general cargo and 7,600 tons of containerized cargo have not been exported.
The Buenaventura Regional Port Society shared figures of the affectations and losses that have occurred during the 15 days of the National Strike and of the blockades that have not allowed the loads to be transferred.
“Since last April 28, when the National Strike began, there has been an important damming of cargo, it is for this reason and in response to the information requested daily by various public of interest, that the Buenaventura Regional Port Society is allowed to inform what has been the behavior (average) of exports and imports that are carried out by this terminal, according to types of cargo and during these 15 days of unemployment, ”the company explained in a statement.

According to the Port Society, more than 11,500 tons of coffee, 12,000 thousand tons of sugar, 1,800 tons of solid bulk, 1,200 tons of general cargo and 7,600 tons of containerized cargo have not been exported.
Regarding imported merchandise, “approximate calculations of 133,800 tons of solid bulk, 36,600 tons of general cargo, 3,200 vehicles, and 71,600 tons of containerized cargo can be made, for a total of 242,200 tons of cargo without being able to reach its destination”.
After sharing the figures, the company assured that the constant impact that Colombian foreign trade is suffering can be identified, “this situation negatively impacting farmers, coffee growers, the manufacturing sector and / or manufacturers, and merchants in general.”
The company assured that they are making efforts to continue receiving the daily import cargo, since “it is a vital support for all Colombians, the country and its foreign trade.” The company also asked the different actors who have in their hands the solution of the strike to “bring the dialogues to a consensus and a negotiation that benefits all parties.”
