Hagen – Since Wednesday night there has been a storm in North Rhine-Westphalia * with heavy rains. Fire brigades and rescue workers are in constant use. The city of Hagen in the southeast of the Ruhr area was hit particularly hard. Streets were flooded during the night and people had to be freed from their cars. A police spokesman said of the hundreds of emergency calls received: "The people are desperate."
