Formula 1 will open the year in Sakhir at the beginning of March, and as novelties are the inclusion of the Chinese Grand Prix, which returns after the pandemic, the Qatar race in October and the Las Vegas race, which as it was known , will be the penultimate before arriving in Abu Dhabi at the end of November.
Another of the tests that changes places on the calendar is that of Azerbaijan, which goes from June to April, ahead of Miami, Imola and another modification, that of Spain for Monaco. Canada retains its place before returning to Europe for the summer tour, where there is yet another change, since the break for the holidays will not come after Hungary, but the last appointment will take place in Belgium, which is brought forward at the end of July.
The Dutch Grand Prix will mark the return of Formula 1 in August, before kicking off the series of tours of Asia and the Middle East. In these last appointments there are no surprises, since all were confirmed for a long time. It is also worth noting that France disappears from the calendar in 2023 , something that was also practically confirmed.
In the statement issued by the FIA they reveal that they created this roadmap so as not to coincide with the centenary of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and have sought to “optimize all the world championship race calendars”.
The president of the body, Mohammed ben Sulayem , gave his opinion on what the Formula 1 appointments will be next year: “The presence of 24 races on the calendar of the 2023 FIA Formula 1 World Championship is one more proof of the growth and attractiveness of this category on a global scale.
“The inclusion of new venues and the maintenance of traditional events underlines the FIA’s good management of this sport,” he continued. “I am delighted that we will be able to bring F1’s new era of exciting racing, created by the 2022 regulations, to a broader fan base in 2023.”
“In drawing up the 2023 F1 calendar, the members of the World Motor Sport Council have also taken into account the calendar of the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans,” the president concluded.
