F1 and the teams mourn the death of Queen Elizabeth II

Since June 2, 1953, the United Kingdom had Elizabeth Alexandra Mary as queen, under the name of Elizabeth II , and after almost three quarters of a century in the crown, on September 8, 2022, her heart has stopped beating. All the inhabitants of the British Isles expressed their condolences, and Formula 1, as it is a category that was born in Silverstone, where it was present at the 1950 race, has joined in the expressions of affection towards His Majesty.

In a statement released on Thursday afternoon before the Italian Grand Prix, the president, Stefano Domenicali , wanted to express his pain: “Formula 1 mourns the loss of the Queen, Her Majesty, Elizabeth II. For more than seven decades it has dedicated his life to public service with dignity and devotion, and inspired many people around the world.

“Formula 1 sends its sincerest condolences to the Royal Family and to everyone in the UK and Commonwealth,” the motorsport top-flight publication read.

 

The Williams team also dedicated a post remembering the queen: “Williams Racing joins the global mourning for the death of Her Majesty the Queen. Our thoughts are with the Royal Family and the people of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth, to whom Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, devoted more than seventy years of inspiring public service.”

In addition to Grove, Mercedes wrote through its director, Toto Wolff : “We are deeply saddened by the news of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. We send our most sincere condolences to the Royal Family and the people of the United Kingdom and of the Commonwealth”.

In Alpine they also showed their affection towards Elizabeth II: “Alpine mourns the loss of Her Majesty Elizabeth II, who for more than 70 years has dedicated her life to the service of her kingdom and has inspired many generations around the world with her tolerance and Balance”.

“The team expresses their pain and condolences to the family. We are very proud to be part of the UK community and to have many UK and Commonwealth citizens working with us. Thank you for your devotion and pride in serving the country.” , indicated the French team.

Everyone in the Formula 1 paddock added their condolences to the Royal Family as the news reached the Monza circuit, especially the British, such as the McLaren team and several of the drivers, such as Alex Albon or George Russell.
