F1 joins Hamilton and Verstappen in the preview of Abu Dhabi

0

All eyes will be on them at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix that ends the 2021 F1 season. Verstappen and Hamilton are playing for the title in the last race and F1 has wanted them to be the focus of attention from day one.

And it is that in the FIA press conferences that are held on Thursday at each circuit (and that the drivers attend two by two since the measures against COVID-19 were applied), in the Yas Marina Formula 1 has cited the two contenders for the world.

The drivers who will attend the FIA press conference together on Thursday in Abu Dhabi

(From 11:30 a.m. in Spain, 2:30 p.m. in Abu Dhabi)

Kimi Raikkonen (Alfa Romeo) con…  George Russell (Williams)
Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) with … Lando Norris (McLaren)
Yuki Tsunoda (AlphaTauri) con … Nikita Mazepin (Haas)
Sebastian Vettel (Aston Martin) con…  Mick Schumacher (Haas)
Lance Stroll (Aston Martin) con…  Daniel Ricciardo (McLaren)
Pierre Gasly (AlphaTauri) with … Fernando Alonso (Alpine)
Antonio Giovinazzi (Alfa Romeo) with … Esteban Ocon (Alpine)
Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) with… Nicholas Latifi (Williams)
Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes) with… Sergio Perez (Red Bull)
Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) con…  Max Verstappen (Red Bull)

As usual, Formula 1 has brought together some drivers for obvious reasons, such as Mick Schumacher with his friend and ‘tutor’ in his first season, Sebastian Vettel . He has also matched, in addition to rivals Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen , his teammates, who are playing for third place in the drivers’ world championship (although Bottas has it on track)

He has also brought together Charles Leclerc with Lando Norris , who are separated by only four places in the fight for fifth position in the championship, and in the rest of the couples there is no relationship. In fact it is almost strange that Kimi Raikkonen ‘s last press conference in F1 is with George Russell instead of one of his former teammates or rivals.

These line-ups will bring Verstappen and Hamilton together after the last controversial episode at the Saudi Arabian GP, when they again almost had an accident (in fact they touched), at the most tense moment of the season. Will sparks fly?

And as if that were not enough, Formula 1 has also brought together Christian Horner (director of Red Bull) and Toto Wolff (chief of Mercedes) at the directors’ press conference on Friday. Two ‘roosters’ who have already had many dialectic duels this year and in fact, on the last occasion they shared the press room (before the Qatar GP) there was already a tense exchange of accusations.

In addition, as has happened on more occasions, instead of a team leader they have summoned a motorist representative, in this case Honda, before the dismissal of the Japanese F1 manufacturer.
