A Formula 1 driver must physically prepare for any unforeseen event in a Grand Circus race, and on certain occasions they lose three to four kilos in just two hours of effort inside the car. In case of any pain, the suffering can be impossible to bear, as happened to Lando Norris at the beginning of the season, where even the FIA allowed him not to go to speak to the media because of his condition.
However, in the last United States Grand Prix, the Briton’s pain was very particular, and he revealed that he had to take painkillers to continue competing. The irregular asphalt with potholes of the Circuit of the Americas caused the rebounds to return in some of the cars on the grid, as in the case of the Englishman, who garnered a creditable sixth place after overtaking Fernando Alonso in the final moments.
The one from McLaren, after seeing the checkered flag, confessed that he was losing concentration in the decisive moments of the test due to the rebound of his car after 56 laps.
“I couldn’t fully concentrate for the last ten laps,” Norris told RacingNews365.com . “There are too many irregularities and potholes on this circuit, I had to increase the dose of the medication for the headache because I suffered a lot during the weekend with the tarmac like this.”
“I don’t know if the conditions we are in are better or worse than the other teams, what is clear is that I am suffering with that,” he acknowledged. “When I’m on the pills, there may not be a huge difference, but it certainly makes [headaches] difficult for me, and it can be very easy to make mistakes.”
“So it’s very easy to lock up the tyres. Some parts are too bumpy so I’d like them to resurface it, but that’s one half, the other half is a bit better, not what we need with these new cars.” sentenced the Briton from the Woking team.
