F1 promises that they will not hold more than 24 races in 2023

Formula 1 is in a process of expansion throughout the world, and it is that the highest category of motorsport has gone from holding twenty races to approaching 25 competition weekends.

Despite the fact that the teams and members of the paddock want to reduce the number of grand prizes in order to have a little more time to rest or, at least, not have to travel so many kilometers in a short period of time, the owners of the Big Circus, Liberty Media , are determined to raise the number of tests.

In the 2022 season, the longest campaign in history was going to be played, with 23 tests , but after the cancellation of the Russian Grand Prix due to the war with Ukraine, the calendar finally stayed at 22, equaling 2021.

However, everything indicates that the record will be broken next year, with up to 24 races, and that is that the Qatar Grand Prix and the Las Vegas Grand Prix will officially join, in a clear development of Formula 1 in the East Middle and United States.

It is still unknown if Liberty Media will keep Spa-Francorchamps and Paul Ricard, two circuits that hang in the balance, although if one falls, it is possible that Kyalami will land for the return of the South African Grand Prix. In any case, the president of Formula 1, Stefano Domenicali , confirmed that they want to continue with a certain balance to make the seasons perfect.

“It’s important for us to get the balance right in terms of moving between the countries in different parts of the world,” he told RaceFans.net . “At the same time, we want to fix the entire calendar from March to November, inclusive.”

After hinting that the 2023 Formula 1 calendar will be approved in October, shortly before the end of this course so as not to coincide with the start of the FIFA World Cup, the Italian director assured that they would not reach the limit of 25 citations.

“Now we are agreeing the final details, so I can’t say anything more, but I think next season there will be a couple more races,” said Domenicali. “So we won’t get to 25 grands prix.”
