F1's demand may see more races held in the US.

Formula 1 is enjoying great interest in the United States, and proof of this is the three races that will be held in the upcoming 2023 season . In addition to the grand prix on the COTA circuit, which has been on the calendar since 2012, Liberty Media introduced the Miami event this year, and they will travel to Las Vegas next November.

That has meant a drastic change in the position that the North American country occupies in Formula 1, since they were very far from 2007, when they stopped visiting Indianapolis, until they returned to Austin without much success due to the low influx of public.

The Circuit of the Americas signed a new five-year deal to host the United States Grand Prix in February, and is set to celebrate its 10th anniversary with another sellout in October. The president of the Texas facility, Bobby Epstein , told Motorsport.com that the track could “exceed last year’s numbers” given the demand for tickets, but that they are focused on maintaining the best possible experience for the fans.

“We have just built a new access road to the circuit, something that we urgently needed,” he said. “As long as we feel like people can have a good experience and we can make it happen, that’s what we’re focused on.”

“We don’t control what happens on the tarmac, just the entertainment and things that happen off the track,” Epstein explained. “Our capacity could be much higher, and that’s something we’ll try to do in the next few years.”

The facility manager revealed that they were working on creating an additional grandstand to accommodate an additional 6,000 fans , which would, in his opinion, keep up the demand for more racing in the United States.

“If it’s not all sold out, almost everything will be. In fact, two days after the tickets went on sale in the spring, everything was already sold out, it’s incredible,” he said. “The demand in the country at the moment is incredible, it’s good to have three races, and we could have many more.”

Miami will retain its date on the calendar in early May, while the weekend in Las Vegas is expected to take place a month after the test at COTA in 2023 on Saturday night.

Epstein affirmed that the appointment in Austin will continue to be “very traditional” with its offer, maintaining its own identity with respect to the other American races: “I think that we will continue to be the favorites for the purists, for the festival goer and also for those who They want something of value.

“We want to make sure that people are not left without options,” he continued. “I think that even if we have high-end products, we are going to continue to be accessible to the pir aficionado, which we certainly care about.”

“I’m not saying the others don’t, but I think the other events are unique,” Epstein said. “Las Vegas is going to be under the lights at night, and it’s going to be very different, and Miami being the international city that it is, something different on the schedule.”

“I don’t think it’s any different for us than Montreal or Mexico City, or even Hungary or Australia,” he said. “It’s just a different race at a different time of year, and there are a lot of fans in America who support that.”
